Meat Sauce
| Ingredients |
2 crushed cloves garlic (6g) 1 medium finely chopped onion (100g) 2 tsp mono/polyunsaturated oil (10ml) 1 tabsp water (20ml) Lean mince (500g) 1 can no added salt tomato paste (140g) 1 can tomatoes (400g) ½ cup water (125ml) ¼ tsp ground nutmeg Freshly ground black pepper 1 bay leaf ½ tsp ground oregano 1 tsp sugar (5g) or equivalent substitute |

| Method |
· Stir-fry garlic and onion in a non-stick pan with oil and water until onion is golden and softened. Add mince and continue to stir-fry until brown. · Combine in a saucepan or in a microwave dish with tomato paste, tomatoes, water, nutmeg, black pepper, bay leaf, oregano and sugar. · Cook slowly for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until thick. |
