The person with diabetes must become responsible for his or her own health.
They should seek the support and advice of the Diabetes team. The diabetes team will be made up of a specialist doctor, diabetes educator, podiatrist, and an consulting dietitian.
The team will assist initially and with periodic review. Help and support is needed with understanding diabetes, possible complications, diet and meal planning, exercise routines, medication and blood glucose monitoring if required.
The Diabetes Association of WA- 48 Wickam St East Perth can be of assistance. You may phone 1800 640 862 for general inquires or check your yellow pages in your state.
Accredited Practising Dietitians are listed in the yellow pages of your telephone book or on line. We would recommend that everyone with diabetes seek professional help to enpower them to be responsible for their own health.
