Coles Simply Less Range
Coles have recently released a new range of more than 90 products designed to target the health conscious and promote healthier eating. The products have been developed as a healthier choice compared to their counterparts, and range from breakfast cereals and snack bars, to microwave meals, fresh salads and desserts.
The Simply Less range of products contains less kilojoules and/or less fat than their competitive products. They give consumers a healthier option across a wide range of food items. The Coles website highlights some of the particular benefits that were in mind when the Simply Less range was being developed. Promoting satiety with a calorie controlled products was important, and Coles say that all Simply Less products contain protein and fibre where possible, to enhance the effect on satiety. They help with portion control by individually wrapping all snack items such as bars and desserts. All frozen meals serve one, and contain at least 2 serves of vegetables and a quality protein source.
The Coles Simply Less range is a great place to look if you are looking at choosing a healthier alternative to a similar product. It is important to remember portion control overall. Just because a product is advertised as lower in kilojoules/fat, it does not automatically mean that you can consume more of it! The range is designed as a substitution for higher kilojoule/fat products and therefore decrease overall kilojoule and fat intake. Just because these Simply Less dessert and snack food options are available, they do not need to be consumed on a daily basis and should be considered as occasional foods. Unfortunately the accompanying meal plans on Coles website include one or more of the snack/dessert foods daily. Fruit, yoghurt and fresh vegetables are the best options for snacking and dessert.
Overall, if it is a frozen meal, snack bar or dessert you are after, check out the Coles Simply Less range and you can be happy knowing you have made a healthier choice in comparison to others on the market.
