Foods, Pills or Surgery
People are often more caring of their car, dog or home than their own body. Correct eating habits now to help prevent disease rather than wait to use pills and surgery when a real problem occurs. Maintain a healthy weight, be active and eat well to protect your body in the future. Many people take the blind-fold approach to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer.
Consider the side effects of surgery and drugs.
Food has fewer side effects compared to drugs or surgery. The body can react to drugs or to a combination of drugs and food. There are medications for cholesterol that may compromise the liver, for blood pressure and diabetes that may lead to impotence or medication that reacts with grapefruit juice. Food is so much more enjoyable than pills and definitely safer.
Feel Better or feel fantastic?
Surgery or pills may make you better but aim to feel fantastic. The choice could be in what you eat. A diet low in fat and rich in lean sources of meat, chicken, fish, dairy, beans and lentils with a wide range of fruit and vegetables and breads and cereals has the potential to maximise health. Life is too short to waste an hour or a minute in ill health that can be avoided.
How much more enjoyable it can be to eat 2 fruit and 5 serves of vegetables in a variety of ways rather than swallowing 7 pills. We know that the fruit and vegetables are a better protection from cancer and heart disease than the pills anyway. You can’t package all of that goodness in one little pill!

Diets don’t work but permanent change does.
You never hear of a person being on the grapefruit diet, the regression diet or the food combining diet year after year. That’s because it’s a quick fix diet that doesn’t work in the long term. Food is there to be enjoyed. This means all food. As long as you ensure you are eating a wide variety of foods from all groups, you’ll find you won’t need to overeat on extras or treats. You will be maintaining a healthy life style to prevent disease and maintain a healthy weight. Make life style changes to your diet slowly so they can be maintained and become permanent. Do something rather than nothing. Be active in all pursuits. Walk to the shops for the paper, do the housework, garden and mow the lawns.
Healthy eating tastes good and makes you feel energised.
You don’t need a prescription to eat well. You will also reduce your medical costs with healthy eating. Food is the healthy alternative to pills or the surgery; the choice is yours.
