What is Your Osteoporosis Risk
Osteoporosis is a condition where the bones become frail and easily broken through the loss of calcium. Men and women who have poor calcium intakes, don’t exercise regularly or lack vitamin D are at risk of osteoporosis. Young under weight women with low oestrogen levels are also at risk. At about the age of 30, bone density and levels of calcium storage reach their peaks. Both men and women lose calcium as they get older. At menopause, women have a greater loss of calcium with reduction in hormonal activity. It is important to maintain an intake of calcium rich food to ensure that the bones stay strong. This will help to prevent fractures.
