Gluten Free Dining Out
Gluten Free Practical Tips for Coeliacs Eating Out
Eating away from home can certainly pose challenges to those following a gluten free diet.
It is important to avoid gluten at all times, including all times you eat out. This can seem daunting, particularly when visiting fast food chains and restaurants, but many places are now offering gluten free options, and there are always naturally gluten free choices available.
Ask the Staff. Most staff will be happy to speak to the chef or look at ingredients to see what options on the menu are gluten free.
Contamination
Beware of cross contamination when eating out. For example, potato wedges are often dusted with flour prior to frying to make them crispy.
Gluten Free Takeaway and Dining Out
Many of our everyday fast food and takeaway restaurants provide gluten free options, or can alter certain options to cater for the gluten free diet. Examples include Mc Donald’s, Fasta Pasta and Red Rooster.
Furthermore, many different cuisines offer both naturally gluten free choices, and can alter meals to cater for Coeliacs. These can be discussed in your appointment.
